1. What is a Chainwheel Crank?
A Chainwheel Crank, commonly called a Crankset, is a core component of a bicycle's drivetrain. It consists of one or more chainrings (the front gears) attached to crank arms, which connect to the bottom bracket and transfer the rider's pedaling force to the chain and rear wheel.
2. What types of cranksets do you manufacture?
We produce a comprehensive range for various bicycles:
Road Bike Cranksets: 1x, 2x chainrings (e.g., 50/34T, 52/36T), lightweight.
Mountain Bike (MTB) Cranksets: 1x (narrow-wide), 2x, and 3x systems, built for durability.
City/Hybrid Bike Cranksets: Often 2x or 3x for versatile gearing.
E-Bike Cranksets: Reinforced designs to handle motor torque.
Kids'/BMX Cranksets: Simple, robust 1-piece or 3-piece designs.
Custom & OEM Cranksets: To your exact specifications.
3. What materials are used?
We use high-performance materials to balance weight, strength, and cost:
Crank Arms: 6061 or 7075 aluminum alloy (forged or CNC machined), carbon fiber (high-end).
Chainrings: 7075 aluminum (CNC machined), steel, or carbon fiber. 1x chainrings often feature narrow-wide tooth profiles for superior chain retention.
Spider/Bolt Circle: Integrated or separate, made from aluminum or steel.
Hardware: Steel or titanium bolts.
4. How can I request a quotation or discuss a custom project?
Please provide the following information for the best service:
Bicycle type (Road, MTB, E-Bike, etc.).
Desired specs (material, number of chainrings, tooth counts, BCD, bottom bracket standard).
Intended use and target market.
Estimated annual quantity.
Any special requirements (weight target, color, branding).
5. How do I choose the correct chainring size(s) and BCD?
Chainring Size (Tooth Count): Determines gear ratio. Common road doubles: 50/34T (compact), 52/36T. MTB: 28T-38T for 1x, or combinations like 24/34/42T for 3x.
Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD): The diameter of the bolt pattern attaching the chainring to the spider. Must match between chainring and crankset (e.g., 110mm BCD for many road cranks).
Provide your intended use and desired gearing for our recommendation.
6. What is your crankset's weight?
Weight varies significantly by material, size, and number of chainrings:
Road 2x (Aluminum): ~600g - 800g.
MTB 1x (Aluminum): ~550g - 750g.
High-End Carbon Models: Can be under 500g.
Exact weights are provided in the product specifications.
7. What are the payment and shipping terms?
Payment: T/T (30% deposit, 70% before shipment) or L/C at sight.
Shipping: Mainly by sea (FOB/CIF). We provide professional, damage-proof packaging suitable for long-distance transport.
8. Can you produce custom chainring designs (logo, tooth profile)?
Absolutely. As an OEM expert, we specialize in:
Custom CNC Machining: Unique shapes, logos, and weight-saving cutouts.
Proprietary Tooth Profiles: For optimized shifting and chain retention.
Anodizing & Color Matching: Any color, including laser-etched graphics.
Direct Mount Chainrings: For specific spider designs.
9. What is your MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)?
Standard Models: MOQ 200 sets.
Custom Design/OEM: MOQ 500 sets (negotiable based on design complexity).
Chainrings Only: MOQ 1,000 pieces.
Samples: Available for testing and quality approval.
10. What quality control measures are in place?
We ensure every crankset meets high standards:
Material Certification: For aluminum and steel alloys.
Dimensional Accuracy: CMM checks for interface tolerances (BB spindle, pedal threads).
Static & Dynamic Load Testing: Fatigue testing to simulate years of pedaling stress.
Hardness & Surface Treatment Inspection.
100% Final Visual and Function Check.
11. What is the production lead time?
Samples: 10-15 working days.
Standard Products: 20-30 working days.
Custom/OEM Orders: 30-45 working days after final design and sample approval.
12. Do you offer private labeling and packaging?
Yes. Full OEM services include:
Laser Etching or Stamping of your brand/logo.
Custom Retail Packaging (blister packs, boxes).
Bulk Packaging for bicycle manufacturers.
