Function and characteristics1. What types of sheet metal boxes can you produce through stamping?
We specialize in manufacturing a wide range of stamped enclosures:
Electrical Junction & Control Boxes: For circuit breakers, PLCs, instrumentation.
Industrial Consoles & Cabinet Bodies
Telecom & Network Equipment Housings
Ventilation & Fan Housings
Custom OEM Enclosures for machinery, automotive, and consumer electronics.
2. What are the primary advantages of stamped sheet metal boxes?
Stamping offers superior benefits for high-volume production:
High Precision & Consistency: Progressive dies ensure identical parts every cycle (±0.05mm tolerance).
Excellent Structural Integrity: Creates strong, seamless corners and integrated features (mounting bosses, standoffs).
Cost-Effectiveness at Scale: Extremely low per-unit cost for large quantities.
Material Efficiency: Nesting optimization minimizes waste.
Fast Production Speed: Thousands of parts per hour possible.
3. What materials and thicknesses do you work with?
We process various grades suitable for enclosures:
Cold Rolled Steel (SPCC/CRS): Most common, economical.
Galvanized Steel (SGCC): For corrosion resistance.
Aluminum (5052, 6061): Lightweight, good thermal/EMI properties.
Stainless Steel (304, 316): For harsh/hygienic environments.
Pre-painted/Coil Coated Steel: Available.
Thickness Range: 0.5mm to 6.0mm for stamped enclosures.
4. What is your typical manufacturing process for a box?
Our integrated stamping process includes:
Blanking: Cutting the flat sheet to size.
Drawing/Forming: Stamping the basic box shape (deep draw or multi-stage form).
Piercing & Flanging: Adding holes, louvers, and mounting features.
Deburring & Surface Preparation.
Secondary Operations (welding, tapping, assembly) as required.
5. What is the maximum size you can produce?
This depends on our press bed size and tonnage:
Typical Max Part Size (Single Operation): Up to 1000mm x 800mm.
Larger Assemblies: Can be produced as multiple stamped parts and welded together.
Depth of Draw: Up to 150mm in a single operation; deeper boxes through multi-stage tooling.
6. Can you add custom features during stamping?
Absolutely. Progressive dies allow us to integrate many features in one cycle:
Mounting Holes & Tapped Threads
EMI Finger Grooves & Shielding Channels
Ventilation Louvers & Mesh Patterns
Hinges, Latches, and Card Guides
Brand Logos, Part Numbers, and Instructions
Gasket Grooves for IP sealing.
7. What surface finishes and treatments do you offer?
We provide a full range of post-stamping finishes:
Plating: Zinc, nickel, chrome, tin.
Powder Coating: All standard and custom RAL colors.
Anodizing (for aluminum): Clear, black, color.
Screen Printing & Laser Marking.
Conductive Coatings for EMI/RFI shielding.
8. How do I start a project or request a quote?
To get a fast and accurate quote, please email us with:
3D/2D files of your box design.
Material and finish specifications.
Target annual volume.
Any applicable standards (IP rating, UL, etc.).
9. What is your typical tooling (mold) lead time and cost?
Tooling Lead Time: 25-40 working days for a standard progressive die, depending on complexity.
Tooling Cost: Varies significantly based on size, complexity, and material. We provide a detailed, itemized tooling quote with your project proposal. Customers own the tooling after payment.
10. What is the MOQ for stamped boxes?
Stamping requires significant tooling investment, so MOQs are higher:
For New Custom Tooling: Minimum 10,000 pieces per production run is typical.
For Existing/Standard Tooling: MOQ can be as low as 5,000 pieces.
Prototypes: Available via soft tooling or CNC fabrication before hard tooling commitment (MOQ 100-500 pcs).
11. What file formats do you need for a quotation?
We can work from:
3D Files: STEP, IGES, SolidWorks, CATIA, UG (preferred for accurate quoting).
2D Files: DXF, DWG with detailed drawings, including bend radii and tolerances.
Samples: We can reverse engineer from a physical sample.
12. Do you provide design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback?
Yes, and it's crucial for stamping success. Our engineers will review your design and provide a free DFM report with suggestions on:
Optimal material selection and bend radii.
Simplifying features to reduce tooling cost.
Ensuring proper clearances for stamping and assembly.
