D shackles are made from grade 304 stainless steel and grade 316 stainless steel, ss316 is better than ss304 in corrosion resistance and rust prevention, if their application areas are very bad like marine and biogas..., we recommend you choose grade 316 stainless steel, If not, SS304 is good enough.  
D shackles are available in size from 4mm to 32mm, their detailed dimensions and working load limits are below for your reference. D shackles are produced by hot forged, surface is mirror polished.

2. D-Shackle vs. Bow Shackle Design

• D-Shackle (Chain Shackle): Features a narrow "D" shaped body. Designed for straight-line, in-line pulls. Offers higher rated capacity for a given material size compared to bow shackles when loaded along the spine.

• Bow Shackle (Anchor Shackle): Features a larger, rounded "O" or bow-shaped body. Provides a larger bearing surface and multiple loading angles (side, basket, choke hitch) without significantly reducing capacity. More versatile for connections involving multiple legs of slings.

3. Secure Pin & Threading Systems

• Screw Pin Shackles: The most common type. Features a removable pin with UNC or metric threads. Quick to install/remove with a spanner. Suitable for non-permanent, frequently reconfigured connections.

• Bolt-Type Shackles: Utilize a bolt and nut secured with a cotter pin. Provides the most secure, vibration-resistant connection for permanent or long-term installations.

• Round Pin Shackles: Simple pin retained by a cotter pin. Often used in tie-down applications.

• Safety Pin Design: Pins feature a shoulder that seats against the shackle body when fully tightened, indicating proper engagement.
