Product Description
Prefabricated Galvanized Ground Helical Solar Mounting Anchor Spiral Pole Pile Ground Screw
Helical piers, also known as anchors, piles or screw piles, are deep foundation solutions used to secure new or repair existing foundations,a modern improvement to traditional cement footings. Each pier consists of an engineered steel post with screw-like helices. Helical pile is extendable base equipment which is made up of helical engineered metallic plates that are attached to a central steel shaft using a round or rectangular cross-section. The steel plate thickness, diameter, number, and helices operate are determined through the restricted or supported arrangement's minimal design life, the ecological rust, and geotechnical parameters, along with the design fill demands.
The screw piles are provided in modular sections approximately 2m long. The lead section normally has three galvanized steel helices of increasing size welded to the shaft. If further depth is required, 2m follower sections are provided. Galvanized steel pile caps are also available.
Helical piers, also known as helical anchors, piles or screw piles, are deep foundation solutions used to secure new or repair existing foundations. Due to their design and ease to install, they are most commonly used whenever soil conditions prevent standard foundation solutions. Instead of requiring large excavation work, they thread into the ground. Helical piers are round or square, tubular or bar steel shafts with round helix plates welded to them.
Photovoltaic screw ground pile can reduce the cost of the foundation of the support system, shorten the installation time, and reduce the environmental impact of the ground photovoltaic support system. As a quick and cost-effective solution, it is applicable to all major solar photovoltaic, wind energy and construction industries. Its high load performance, stability, settlement resistance and pull-out resistance are the reasons for its rapid development.

Ground screw system is a modern foundation system, using the drilling machine to install which makes it as the most efficient and cost-saving footing solution.
It can be widely applied to different soil conditions.

Installation
Screw piles are wound into the ground much like a screw into wood. Screw piles are installed using various earthmoving equipment fitted with rotary hydraulic attachments. Machinery varies from skid-steer loaders to 5 tonne through 80 tonne excavators. Rotary hydraulic powerheads with torque capacities ranging from 5,000 Nm to 500,000 Nm are custom fitted using various boom configurations. Special drive attachments connect the screw pile to the machine. Correct installation techniques are paramount to meet engineered design load and settlement outcomes. Incorrect techniques are likely to result in poor overall pile performance.
Quality control:
*We have specialized QC testers to check the quality of the products according to different customers'
requirement. Usually, it's random inspection, and we also offer 100% inspection at a reasonable price
if required.
*We have IQC to check the dimensions and surface of the incoming material
*We have PQC to inspect full-course during the manufacturing processing
*We have FQC to inspect all the anodizing/plating and other finishes' products from our supplier and
proceed with the professional quality and appearance inspection before shipping.
The first piece of the helical pile is called the lead; this is the piece that is first rotated into the ground. The lead has multiple helical blades, also referred to as helical bearing plates, that can vary in size, shape, and number. After the lead follows any number of extensions, depending on the required torque or depth. These are simply shafts that are bolted and pinned to the lead and to each other at their ends. The top of the pile is the incorporated into the foundation system via a bracket or other connection method.
Helical Piles are used worldwide to secure residential and commercial buildings, tower foundations, heavy equipment foundations, and many other deep foundation system applications.
The shaft can come in either a circular or a square cross section shape and is typically hollow.

1. What is a Solar Mounting Ground Screw?
A Solar Mounting Ground Screw is a helical steel pile used as a fast, low-impact foundation for ground-mounted solar panel arrays. It consists of a central steel shaft with helical plates (flights) welded along its length. It is installed by rotating it into the ground, displacing soil rather than removing it, creating a secure and immediate-load-bearing foundation.
2. What are the main advantages over traditional concrete foundations?
Speed: Installation is 3-5x faster, drastically reducing project timelines.
Low Environmental Impact: No excavation, no curing time, no water needed. Minimal site disturbance.
Immediate Load Capacity: Panels can be mounted immediately after installation.
Removability & Reusability: Can be unscrewed at end-of-project life, allowing land restoration.
All-Season Installation: Can be installed in most weather conditions, including frozen ground (with proper equipment).
Lower Total Installed Cost: Reduces labor, equipment, and material costs.
3. What types of ground screws do you manufacture?
We offer a comprehensive range for various soil conditions and project sizes:
Small-Diameter Screws (e.g., 76mm/3" shaft): For residential and light commercial C&I projects.
Large-Diameter Screws (e.g., 114mm/4.5", 140mm/5.5" shaft): For utility-scale solar farms.
Single-Helix vs. Multi-Helix: For different load and soil requirements.
Rock Tip / Punch Tip Screws: For penetrating harder surfaces or rocky soils.
Custom Extensions & Couplers: To reach required depth.
Complete Kits: Including mounting heads (top hats), brackets, and hardware.
4. How do I determine the correct size, length, and helix configuration?
Selection is based on a site-specific geotechnical assessment considering:
Soil Type & Stratigraphy (sand, clay, silt, presence of rock).
Required Pull-Out/Uplift Capacity (determined by wind/snow loads on the array).
Compression/Vertical Load (weight of structure).
Torque-Capacity Correlation: Installation torque is directly measured to verify design load capacity in the field.
We strongly recommend a professional site evaluation. Our engineers can provide design support based on your soil report.
5. What materials and coatings are used for durability?
We use high-quality, corrosion-protected materials:
Shaft & Helices: High-strength low-carbon steel (Q235B, S235JR) or high-strength steel (Q355B, S355JR).
Surface Protection: Hot-Dip Galvanizing (HDG) to ASTM A123 (standard, ≥85µm coating) is standard. Galvanizing + Powder Coating is available for enhanced aesthetics and protection in highly corrosive soils.
Welds: Continuous, full-penetration welds, galvanized after welding.
6. What installation equipment is required?
Installation requires hydraulic drive equipment (typically mounted on a mini-excavator or skid steer):
Torque Motors: Provide the rotational force. We can recommend torque requirements for our products.
Drive Heads: Attach to the top of the screw.
Extensions: To reach desired depth.
We work with a network of installation partners and can provide equipment recommendations or connections.
7. Can ground screws be used in all soil types?
They are suitable for most soil conditions, but design must be adapted:
Optimal: Sand, silt, clay, loam.
Challenging but Feasible: Dense clay, gravel, weak rock (using specialized tips/rock points).
Not Recommended: Solid bedrock, very loose sand, or soils with large boulders without prior investigation.
A pre-installation test screw is always recommended on new sites.
8. What is the typical load capacity?
Capacity varies dramatically with size and soil. Example ranges:
Small Screws (76mm shaft): 10 - 40 kN (1 - 4 metric tons) uplift capacity.
Large Screws (114mm+ shaft): 30 - 150+ kN (3 - 15+ metric tons) uplift capacity.
We provide engineered load tables based on soil parameters. Field verification via torque-to-capacity correlation is standard practice.
